Gamben - Geigen - geschnitzte Köpfe

"Die Instrumente, die ich von Henner spiele, sind eine Colichon (1689er Modell), eine Barack Norman (1692), eine Diskantgambe und die Lira da gamba.

Tatsächlich spiele ich das meiste Repertoire auf der Colichon, und je länger ich sie besitze, umso glücklicher bin ich, dass ich sie spiele. Der Boden und die Zargen sind aus Kirsche, was ihr eine unglaubliche Süße auf der hohen D-Saite verleiht, zugleich klingt sie in den tieferen Registern "satt", aber nie brutal. Worüber ich mich jedesmal besonders freue, nachdem ich eine andere Gambe in den Fingern hatte, ist die ideale Form des Halses."

Das Englische Gambenconsort 'Fretwork' spielt auf 4 Renaissancegamben von mir, die auf der Francesco Linarol im Kunsthistorischem Museum in Wien basieren.

Alle vier Gamben haben Zargen und Boden aus tief geflammter Birke. Keine Stimme und keine umsponnenen Saiten!

Ich freue mich besonders, daß Erin als Pionierin des Lirone sich für ein Instrument von mir entschieden hat. Das Instrument welches sie spielt ist nicht wie auf der aktuellen CD angegeben nach Gaspar da Salo, sondern nach Antonius Brensius, 1592.

Sophie's earliest memories are being surrounded by string instruments in her grandfather's (Dietrich Kessler) workshop. Today she has performed with artists including Sam Smith, Jess Glynne, Tom Odell, Aquilo, Rag'n'Bone Man, The Beach and Camilla Cabello . Alongside live performances and session work, Sophie also pursues her interest in orchestral playing with ensembles throughout London and the UK.
